Today is a sad day for Edinbrook, for the Osseo School District, and for the world of Education.

Today my mom is retiring from teaching.

Let me clarify.

Today my mom is retiring from teaching formally in a school setting.

She will continue to teach everyone she encounters from now until the world ends.

She teaches Brooklynn every day.

She has taught me for more than 30 years, and has no intention of stopping anytime soon.

She will never stop teaching others to be better individuals and how to better the world.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Congrats Mom!

Some call her Nana, Phyllis, Fizzy, PJ... It doesn't matter how you refer to her, everyone considers this generous woman a friend.

The story goes, she had known me before I was born. I am proud to say that Phyllis knew her Brooklynn before she was born. I am grateful everyday for the Nana in our lives.

The DQ runs with my mom may explain my love for ice cream.

Two Words: Banana Bird.

I learned at Fizzy's house that everything is better with a little sprite (now you know how I can drink orange juice!).

There are were always barbies to play with, legos to build with and a trampoline to bounce on.

It was in Phyllis' car that there were issues with Mitch and too many buttons.

I learned to love artificial nails, hair highlights and sparkly rings. :)

I knew all of the behind the scenes tips, tricks and treats at WBR.

I will never be able to sit through "Step to the Rear" without singing along, complete with actions!

I can't imagine how many books have been read to me by Phyllis, and I am so thrilled that some of those same books are being read to my daughter.

There aren't enough words of appreciation for the person I look up to, respect and call my second mom. I love you Fizzy!

Travis and I were hoping to buy Brooklynn a play kitchen in the after Christmas sales. I couldn't believe it when I found these two kitchen appliances (sink/dishwasher & stove/oven) at the local thrift store for $2 each. Best $4 I have spent in a long time!!!

I know that this blog is supposed to be about Brooklynn, but I can't ignore the 9 people that have need for prayer, love and support right now. I love each of these individuals and I love their family. I love the respect they have for each other and the smiles, laughter and joy that spills past bloodlines and into the adopted family they have created. I have been blessed to have adopted grandparents in my life. I am blessed to know Jim and Jo Walker. The times that I was picked up from school and taken care of with Southern love when I was sick. The time taken to come to my 6th grade graduation. The numerous birthday cards, hugs and smiles. Not one gesture, prayer or black-eyed pea has gone unnoticed or unappreciated. I am humbled to call Jim and Jo family. I love you both.

Walgreens Trip - $104.36 in Savings

It has been a long time since I had such a great trip to Walgreens, but today was my day! I was able to work my coupon magic and got all of the items below for $24.16. It took 3 transactions, one very friendly cashier, a patient husband and a extra treat for Brooke. It was so worthwhile if you ask me!

Here is what I purchased:
4 packages Huggies Little Mover diapers (27 diapers per pack)
3 tubes Crest Toothpaste
3 boxes finish Dishwasher Tabs (20 count)
1 bottle Pert Plus for Men
2 bottles Dove Hair Conditioner
2 bottles Pantene Shampoo
2 bottles Pantene Conditioner
3 bottles Softsoap Handsoap
1 KitKat
1 Reese's PB Cup
1 can Gerber Graduates Lil Crunchers

I was pretty excited to see that my savings on my first transaction (by far the largest transaction) saved me $85.40! I wish I could stand at the door of any store and make sure that no one pays full price for items that are so inexpensive, or free, with coupons!

I know it can be overwhelming, but with a little instruction and a few extra minutes, you could be paying 25 cents for toothpaste and actually be making money on dishwasher tabs this week!

Stampin' Up! My Digital Studio

May of you know that I have been using Stampin' Up! products for as long as I can remember. I have found that their products are of high standard and I love that you can coordinate all of the inks, ribbons, accessories, papers and markers.

A newer addition to the Stampin' Up! family is My Digital Studio. For those of you who prefer digital cardmaking and scrapbooking, this is for you! The quality of the product that you can create and print is amazing.

By far, my favorite part of My Digital Studio is that you don't need a lot of extra space. I have a whole room devoted to stamps, scrapbooking and other craft making supplies.
